a. Access to Mojikyo fonts

This font set for both Windows and Macintosh machines contains font set of 110,000 Chinese characters, including those used in Morohashi Dai Kan Wa jiten. Other sets they include in their free distribution are for oracle bone script, Sanskrit, Japanese kana, and minority scripts.

This is a growing comprehensive dictionary that has two main search functions: a character dictionary 字典 and a phrase dictionary 辭典. It is not perfect, but is extremely useful. One of the major benefits of the character dictionary is that it also has the Kangxi Dictionary 康熙字典 and the Shuowen jiezi 說文解字 dictionaries online. Sample Page.

d. Prof. Marjorie Chan's links to Chinese language and linguistics

An extremely important and comprehensive site about Chinese language, linguistics, dialectology, study abroad, romanization, and a hundred other topics. One of the best sites. Always current and usable.

e. www.zhongwen.com

Zhongwen.com contains the complete text of Amazon's bestselling Chinese-English dictionary, : Chinese Characters: A Genealogy and Dictionary, which uses the new (zipu) system of character trees. Distributed exclusively by Far Eastern Publications at Yale and available from Amazon.com. It also has a dictionary web.

  • A useable dictionary, but disappointing. It does not replace the following:

    • Soothill, William E. and Lewis Hodus, A Dictionary of Chinese Buddhist Terms (Taipei: Buddhist Culture Service, n.d.) Hayden East Asia Library BQ130 .S65 1977. Also found online.

• g. Digital Dictionary of Buddhism 電子佛教辭典

  • An absolutely fantastic web dictionary.
